Mo Salah has revealed that “there is a lot of things behind the scenes people don’t know about” when discussing his exit and Liverpool’s struggles this season.
With Salah’s time at Liverpool coming to an end, he is beginning to shed some light on why he feels the time is right to leave and what led to him having ‘no relationship’ with Arne Slot.
The 33-year-old told Sky Sports: “I think personally – I’m not going into details, I’m not trying to play around – but last season I wasn’t ready to go because you break the records, you win the Premier League, it’s not right.
“But now with everything going on in the season – I won’t go into details – it’s like, ‘You know what, it’s time. I want to go’.
“And of course there is a lot of things behind the scenes people don’t know about it, but yeah, I think now is the time. I have peace with it’.”

As Salah alluded to back in December in his infamous post-Leeds interview, there is certainly more at play than supporters are privy to.
During that mixed zone interview, he said “someone doesn’t want me in the club” and has again now indicated that there has been tension behind the scenes.
Salah told TNT Sports: “To go through the year, the season, where I feel like, ‘OK, this is the right thing to do now and I have peace with it’.
“This season was tough for all of us and I don’t want to say much more on that.”
What has gone wrong this season?

Well, to answer the question of what has gone wrong we could be here all day. To some extent, it feels like some kind of drop-off was inevitable given the turnover in players.
However, many fans feel it has been exacerbated by poor coaching. Salah highlighted the difficulties of so much change in the squad while speaking to Stan Sports.
“I wouldn’t say I expected it like this, but I think if you look back to when I won the PFA Player of the Year, they asked me on the stage what do you think about Liverpool’s season,” said the Egyptian.
“The new players coming, very good players, very good signings. I said it’s tricky because it’s very tricky to have like five or six players new to the team, things changing in the dressing room.
And I expect Arsenal to win the Premier League because they are strong, they have bond, they have the quality, but yeah, it’s tricky. It’s challenging, very challenging…
“It’s very tricky with the new guys. We don’t have that bond yet because it’s everyone new, and I was hoping that this season we just try to help them as much as possible because it’s (hard-working culture) very, very important for the dressing room.”
