Ex-Barcelona man Dani Alves now lives a very different life - two years after release from…

After spending around 14 months in prison, the life of former Barcelona defender Dani Alves is looking very different to the days when he was playing football at the highest level.

Alves was sent to prison after being accused of sexual assault back in 2022, but the former Brazilian right back is now back out into normal life.

The now 42-year-old retired from football back in January 2023 after being released by Mexican side Pumas UNAM.

His jail time related to an incident with a female in a nightclub in Barcelona back in 2022, and he was released after paying his bail of £853,000.

Now, his life looks a little different to the days of lifting trophies with Barcelona and playing football on the international stage with Brazil.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Alves became the co-owner of Portuguese third-division side Sporting Clube de Sao Joao de Ver.

In a statement, the club revealed how Alves would bring global vision, winning mentality and ambition, suggesting it was a turning point in their project.

“Dani Alves brings global vision, winning mentality and ambition. Sao Joao de Ver offers identity, community, and a history built with effort. Together, we turn into a larger, sustainable and inspiring project. This is a turning point that reinforces confidence in the project, the people around it and the values that have always defined the club. A clear commitment to sustained growth, to valuing your history, and to building a solid, responsible and passionate future.”

Sao Joao de Ver have never played in the top flight of Portugal, and that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon, winning just two games during their normal season.

Alves Also a Preacher at Spanish Church

Alves has focused a lot of his attention on his religious beliefs, with his social media flooded with religious messages.

The former Barcelona man has even been seen becoming a preacher at a church in Girona, after he reportedly made a 'radical' change to his life after 'making a pact with God'.

He's certainly not living the life of a traditional retired footballer, although he's kept himself in the game by purchasing his own club in Portugal.
