“He is a player who brings so much energy to the team as well because he is always at it, he is always so focused, very demanding. When he does talk, I think it is very impactful.”

Title race pressure

With Arsenal seemingly in the thick of a title race, Arteta emphasized the importance of embracing the moment rather than succumbing to pressure. “When you have the opportunity to make history in such a way, I think you have to embrace it,” he stated.

“The impact that you can have now is going to define the history of the club, and that is a very powerful thing to have.”

The Spaniard also touched on the physical demands of the Premier League compared to other top European competitions, referencing the recent Bayern Munich versus PSG match. “When I look at that game, Bayern and PSG, it’s probably the best game I have ever witnessed on the quality of two teams,” he noted.

“But when I look at the amount of minutes and the freshness of those players, then I’m not surprised. We are competing in two different worlds.”

Nwaneri situation addressed

Arteta also responded to recent criticism of Ethan Nwaneri from his loan club Marseille. The young midfielder has faced questions about his performances during his temporary stint in France.

“I think that’s the coach’s opinion. He’s with him every single day and that’s it,” [Arteta told reporters](https://arseblog.news/2026/05/arteta-on-captain-odegaard-bayern-vs-psg-game-and-nwaneri-criticism/). “Ethan has to respond to that in the right way.”

The Arsenal manager drew parallels with William Saliba’s loan experience, suggesting the criticism could ultimately benefit the youngster’s development. “It’s the same place that William Saliba was, the same club and the outcome. Maybe it’s the best thing that can happen for Ethan for his career.”

Arsenal face Fulham next as they continue their push for the Premier League title, with Arteta’s side needing to maintain their focus amid the intense fixture congestion and mounting pressure.
