Mohamed Salah has revealed the only player whose Liverpool departure reduced him to tears was Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The right-back left the Reds last year when he opted to join Real Madrid. While his exit was somewhat acrimonious, Alexander-Arnold was enthusiastically cheered on his final Liverpool appearance in May 2025.
Twelve months on, Salah is expecting the same in a few weeks' time when he bows out with a home game against Brentford. The 33-year-old is preparing for that emotional day and, in his final weeks as a Red, has been conducting his farewell interviews with broadcasters, including Sky Sports, who treated Salah to an emotive 23-minute video featuring various figures reflecting on his time at Anfield.

Current Reds Dominik Szoboszali and Andy Robertson spoke, along with club legends Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush. Opponents Declan Rice and Erling Haaland praised his impact, while several ex-teammates also shared their memories.
That included Alexander-Arnold, who said: “Hi Mohamed. It’s been a little bit of a while since we’ve seen each other and yeah, I miss you every day.”
“I wish you the best in the future. You were always a very close friend of mine, a brother, and someone that made me a better player, so thank you for getting me to be the player that I am.”

Watching it, Salah commented: “He is the only person I cried over when he left the club. I cried with his Mum.”
“I do miss him. We text from time to time. I really wish him the best,” Salah added separately.
Alexander-Arnold also claimed Salah will be remembered in the same company as Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.
“For me, I have always said Stevie is the No. 1, but I would put them both in the No. 1 spot now, for sure.”
Salah will miss Sunday’s trip to Manchester United with a minor muscle injury he sustained last week in the win over Crystal Palace.

It was initially feared the winger’s season was at an end, marking a premature conclusion to his Liverpool career.
However, the club confirmed in a statement that Salah is likely to play in the final match against Brentford on May 24, a stance reiterated by Arne Slot in Friday’s press conference.
Salah himself said he may even return before the final weekend of the season. “The injury is fine. It will probably be before then [the Brentford game],” the Egyptian told TNT Sports in a separate interview.
