Mohamed Salah will miss his chance say goodbye to Manchester United on Sunday as Liverpool visit Old Trafford. The 33-year-old suffered a muscle injury in the Reds' 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last week, resulting in fears he'd already played his final game for the reigning Premier League champions.

However, the club confirmed earlier this week that Salah is expected to feature before the end of the season. But the return won't come quick enough for him to line up against United one more time.

The Egyptian superstar has haunted Liverpool's bitter rivals with 13 league goals against United since his Anfield arrival in 2017, more than any other player in competition's history. He's also scored seven times at Old Trafford, with no player scoring more in English top-flight history.

Klopp's opportunity

During his nine-year career at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp achieved everything there was to achieve in football. Despite bringing the biggest honours back to Anfield, the German admitted he had one key regret across his tenure.

Speaking ahead of his departure in May 2024, Klopp said he regretted not playing Harvey Elliott more in his final season. Despite the 23-year-old featuring in 53 games across all competitions, he started just 11 league games as Klopp said: "It’s not like I go back and think, 'Where did we go wrong here and there?' But if I regret one thing a little bit it’s that Harvey didn’t play often enough, maybe.

"In a very important and intense period in January when we had a lot of injuries, he played really good, probably our best player, whether it was right wing or right midfield, all these kind of things.

"[Then] everybody came back and he had a few minutes here and there and didn’t start any more and then came on and made a big impact. It’s really nice that he could show that." An opportunity to fix his regret is viable thanks to Klopp's role as Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer and Liverpool's reported interest in RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande.

According to The Telegraph, the 19-year starlet has a valuation of €100million (£86m) and the Reds could look to use Elliott as a makeweight in a potential deal. The Bundesliga side were interested in the Liverpool star last summer before he joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan.

Salah hits out at farewell

With Salah expected to receive a send-off fit for a king in Liverpool's last league fixture of the season against Brentford, the Reds icon believes the club should organise a fitting farewell for Jordan Henderson.

The ex-Reds captain was an integral figure in Liverpool's return to prominence in a period where they won the Premier League and Champions League. After 12 years of service, the Brentford midfielder left abruptly in 2023 for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq without a farewell.

However, he will return to Anfield on May 24 when the Bees take on his former side with Salah imploring the club - and the fans - to give Henderson a special reception. Speaking to Steven Gerrard on TNT Sports' The Breakdown, Salah said: "One more thing I'd really like to mention, and there is no better place to mention it than with you.

"I think the last game of the season is against Brentford and people in the city know how much it meant to Hendo also, being here, captain of the club, for 12 years - more than me, more than Virg, more than Robbo, more than anyone at the club.

"He didn't get the send off or farewell he deserved because he left immediately. I don't know how the club is going to manage it, I have no plan, I also don't know how the supporters will manage it but I really wish they do something special for him because he has been one of the best players at this club.

"Without him - and I have been there in the dressing room - without him we would not have achieved what we achieved, so I really hope the fans will give a good send off. I really hope so."
