Liverpool is being linked with a move to sign Brighton center-back Jan Paul van Hecke.
Van Hecke has emerged as a dependable performer for the South Coast club, and could be available to Liverpool for a cut-price fee this summer due to his contract situation.
Van Hecke's current deal is due to expire next summer, and Brighton may have to offload him this year to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2027.
Dutch outlet VI says that Slot is a keen admirer of Van Hecke, having tried to sign twice previously, when Slot was the manager of Feyenoord.
"Slot had called me a few times," Van Hecke recalled in 2023. "We had some really good conversations, and he convinced me to come to Feyenoord [in January 2023]
"The club (Brighton) didn't want it, and for a reason. You can make up your mind, but it's not going to happen."

Slot also tried to take Van Hecke to Feyenoord four years earlier, when Van Hecke was a young defender for Eredivisie club NAC Breda.
Meanwhile, Spanish outlet Marca reports that Liverpool has entered the race to sign Marcos Senesi, who is weeks away from becoming a free agent
Senesi is set to be one of the most appealing free agents on the market this summer after an encouraging season with Bournemouth, which has a good chance of ending in Europa League qualification for the Cherries.
The same report says that Liverpool is also in advanced talks to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace.

Wharton has emerged as one of the most promising young midfielders in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons, and is expected to be on the radar of a number of top clubs during the off-season.
The report adds that the Reds moved early for Wharton in a bid to get ahead of Real Madrid, which is also rumored to be keeping tabs on the Palace youngster.
Finally, Liverpool reportedly intends to sign either Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig or Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, after deeming Michael Olise to be unattainable amid the brilliant season that the France international is having with Bayern Munich.
