At the end of the 2025/26 season, Mohamed Salah will depart Liverpool as a true Anfield legend. The Egyptian joined from Serie A side Roma in 2017, and helped the club win their first two Premier League titles.
In his nine-year spell with the Reds, he also got his hands on the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Club World Cup. During his time in England, the 33-year-old has played with some fantastic players, which helped elevate him to such a high level.
Of course, Jurgen Klopp got the best out of him consistently, but teammates like Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Sadio Mane, and Trent Alexander-Arnold were absolutely integral to both the club's and Salah's success across that era.
All of those aforementioned names have now departed Anfield, but only one of their exits left the Egyptian in tears.
Liverpool Icons Pay Tribute to Mo Salah
With Salah leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, he was recently watching a series of tributes from current and former teammates in a video for Sky Sports. When it came to Alexander-Arnold, the winger offered an interesting insight into his relationship with the fullback.
Indeed, as Alexander-Arnold paid his well-wishes on screen, Salah admitted:
“He’s the only person I cried when he left the club. I cried with his mum. Me, him and his mum. I was crying.”

The Liverpool forward has been speaking with Steven Gerrard.
The information might come as a bit of a blow for some Liverpool fans. After all, when Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool last summer for Real Madrid, having let his contract run down, many Anfield supporters were furious. Famous club fan Paddy Pimblett even claimed the right-back wasn't welcome at the parade for the Premier League title he'd help win.
Showing that the feeling in the dressing room was not at all similar, Salah clearly had a great relationship with the player, and was sad to see him go. It's no surprise when considering that Alexander-Arnold broke into the team in 2017/18, the same season that his Egyptian teammate arrived at Anfield.
In total, Salah shared the pitch with the Englishman on 319 occasions, only bettered by Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk – they also linked up for 19 goals. On whether he misses the player, the 33-year-old added:
"I do miss him. We text from time to time. I really wish him the best."

Alexander-Arnold clearly holds Salah in the highest regard as well. In fact, in that brief video message, the Real Madird star claimed that he ranks the winger level with Steven Gerrard when it comes to his own view of personal Anfield greats.
The English defender said: "For me, I have always said Stevie is the number one but I would put them both in the number one spot now, for sure."
Perhaps it's not lost on him that when all of Liverpool seemed to turn on Alexander-Arnold, Salah showed his strong personality by defending the player, even if it wasn't the most popular thing to do. He said at the time:
"I think somehow the fans were being harsh with him. I think he didn't deserve it at the time, he deserved the fans to treat him the best way possible because he gave it all to the fans.
"We shouldn't act this way with anyone who always appreciates the people, who came here even for six months. Imagine someone who gives you his all for 20 years. It shouldn't be like this. I hope that will change in the next game because he deserves the farewell."
