Sir Alex Ferguson has been rushed to hospital after falling ill at Old Trafford.

The legendary Manchester United boss, 84, was set to be in attendance to watch Michael Carrick's side take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

However, he was feeling unwell before kick-off and has been taken to hospital. According to the Mail, the move is just a precaution and there is optimism he will soon be recovering at home.

Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions League titles during his 26 years as manager.

The Scot has been a regular at United games since retiring in 2013, travelling to home and away games.
