Sir Alex Ferguson taken to hospital before Man Utd v Liverpool match

Sir Alex Ferguson has been taken to hospital after feeling unwell before Manchester United’s match against Liverpool this afternoon.

The former Man Utd boss, 84, was at Old Trafford and had been expected to attend the game but was taken to the hospital in an ambulance before kick-off.

He was treated by medics in the Stretford End tunnel after reporting feeling unwell.

It is understood that was treated as a precaution and he is expected to recover at home.

The 13-time Premier League winner suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2018 but recovered following surgery. This incident is not thought to be related.
