Jamie Carragher has called on Michael Edwards to take decisive action after a disjointed season for Liverpool, with the former defender raising fresh concerns over the team’s consistency.
The Reds are closing in on a return to the Champions League, but their season has largely fallen short of expectations. A finish of fifth or higher would still secure Liverpool a place in Europes top competiton—the target for Arne Slot’s side after they dropped out of the title race early in the campaign.
Reinforcements are expected in the transfer market, although Slot has already shown his credentials by guiding the team to the top of the table in his debut campaign. Meanwhile, Carragher, Paul Merson and Alan Shearer are in agreement with their United vs Liverpool prediction.

Carragher has warned that things are “not quite right” at Liverpool, insisting the club face a significant rebuild this summer. The former defender, speaking on social media, suggested that major work is required in the transfer market as the side look to address ongoing inconsistencies ahead of the new season.
"He [Slot] should have confidence on the back of wins, that's normal for any football team or set of players" Carragher said on Sky Sports. "But still not convincing really, throughout the season or at any stage, I've felt that Liverpool look like a real team, a proper team.
"I was thinking at some stages this season if Liverpool could improve in the second half of the season in results but also performances, and it gives you a bit of hope and belief for what will come next season. [We] still haven't really seen that, even in these three victories you're still looking at certain performances and just thinking it's not quite right, so I still think there's a bit of work to do in the summer."
It is shaping up to be another busy summer for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah set to depart the club a year before his contract expires. The Reds are expected to move into the transfer market to replace his output, while also addressing defensive gaps following the exit of veteran Andy Robertson. Several areas of the squad are now under review ahead of a key rebuild in the upcoming window.

Carragher has previously said he is eager for the season to conclude so that Liverpool can reset over the summer and regroup ahead of next term under Slot. "It's not been a great season from a Liverpool point of view," Carragher told BBC Sport. "I can't wait for it to be over and we can start again next season.

"But listen, we've been spoiled in the last 10 years. Last season we won the league, so we're allowed an off-season, but hopefully that doesn't happen next season.

"Look, he's a manager who has won the Premier League. There are a lot of clubs in the Premier League now looking for new managers and they want to find a manager who they think can win the league. Liverpool have got one. He has won the league before. He'll be as disappointed as anyone associated with Liverpool with how this season has gone.
"It looks like he is going to be the manager next season so let's get behind him and hopefully we'll have a better season next season. As I said, he's already won the Premier League, so why can't he do it again?"
