Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has reignited his rivalry with Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand ahead of Sunday's clash between both sides. Ferdinand departed TNT Sports in May 2025 and now focuses his punditry work on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand Presents.
The 47-year-old interviews football legends, past and present, while offering his views on the latest football developments. Carragher, who works for CBS Sports and the Telegraph, has apparently taken exception to Ferdinand's remarks in the past.
The two pundits have previously clashed over subjects including Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudi Pro League, the Africa Cup of Nations, and Mo Salah.

Their rivalry has resumed on Sunday with Ferdinand sharing an image on social media platform X which depicted him celebrating a United goal against the Reds - with a dejected Carragher visible ahead of them.
Ferdinand included a caption which read: "Caption this." Carragher has now hit back at the post.

He said: "Have some of that bruv, you Scouse xxxx" probably.......Not like you to make sure you were in the picture of someone else's goal. You now carry on this ritual by hanging around mixed zones, bothering star players & asking your lackeys to film it!"
One notable flashpoint between the pair occurred in 2023 when Carragher branded Ferdinand a 'clown'. During the Champions League semi-final between Milan rivals Inter and AC. Carragher ridiculed Ferdinand for insisting that a disputed penalty decision was 'stonewall', despite VAR reversing it.
When former Manchester City player Micah Richards pressed him to identify who he meant, Carragher said: "Rio Ferdinand. I'm happy to call him a clown."
Responding to the dig, Ferdinand said: "Every time I see him it's all love man. I'm a loving guy, we hug and we shake hands and have a little laugh. I don't understand why he came in with hostility, it's a hostile energy and I don't understand it."
"He's been on our show, we see each other and it's all cool. He used to carry my boots when we were with England, he always showed me love.
"The thing that might have been, it was [Premier League] Hall of Fame week, that's the only thing I can think of because me and him are cool. We chat, sometimes text, I just don't get it man. I've only got good energy for him."
"He's always messaging me, that's what I'm saying, it's madness to me. He always messages me, we've been in England teams together, like i said he carries my boots. He's always shown me love."
"I don't know where that energy has come from and that's all I want him to tell me is where that energy comes from. Is it real energy or not? I need to know so when I see him I'll ask him."
