Newcastle actively plotting move to sign "complete" Premier League winner; he could replace…

Newcastle have now joined the race to sign Curtis Jones from Liverpool this summer, with the Reds set to soften their stance on selling the midfielder.

Newcastle actively plotting Curtis Jones move

Whilst Saturday's victory over Brighton & Hove Albion eased the pressure on Eddie Howe, there's still plenty for Newcastle to do in the recruitment department this summer.

On that front, it has of course been a tough 12 months. After cashing in on Alexander Isak for a Premier League-record fee, the Magpies spent big on Nick Woltemade, Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa. All have since failed.

With Ross Wilson now at the helm, they'll be hoping for a far more successful summer even if it means making a few sacrifices along the way.

It's about time they got their own back on Liverpool for last summer's Isak saga, too. According to TeamTalk. Newcastle are now actively plotting a move to sign Jones, with the Anfield star still considering his long-term future at his boyhood club.

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones

The Reds were against a sale in January when Inter Milan came calling, but could reportedly soften that stance when the summer arrives. If that does prove to be the case, then Inter, Aston Villa and Newcastle could all ignite an exciting battle for the midfielder's signature.

Newcastle fans, do you want to see Curtis Jones at St James' Park next season?

Jones, still just 25 years old, has become a serial winner during his time at Anfield. So much so that if he leaves this summer, the Englishman will depart as a two-time Premier League winner, Champions League winner, two-time League Cup winner and FA Cup winner. Add a Club World Cup to that and it's quite the resume.

With Sandro Tonali's future still in question, Jones could also quickly become a crucial target for those at St James' Park this summer.

Serial winner Jones could replace Tonali

Both Manchester United and Arsenal are circling around Tonali. The Italian has been at the centre of transfer rumours since January and with no Champions League football to offer next season, Newcastle could have no choice but to let him leave in the coming months.

In the event of Tonali's departure, Jones would make for an impressive replacement. Despite Arne Slot dubbing him "complete" last season, the midfielder still finds himself on the cusp of breaking into Liverpool's midfield, and that snub has left the door ajar for a summer exit.

With just over 12 months left on his current deal, Newcastle could even land a cut-price deal if Liverpool are willing to sell Jones this summer.
