Arne Slot is reportedly considering changes or additions to his backroom staff ahead of next season, though this only comes “in the event of him staying.”
It has been widely claimed that Slot is safe in his position as Liverpool head coach, but that stance may shift upon the season’s end.
As it stands it is business as usual for the Dutchman, who is weighing up changes to his backroom staff as Giovanni van Bronckhorst emerges as a candidate for Feyenoord’s technical director role.
Interestingly, the Times‘ Paul Joyce writes that Slot is “reviewing his backroom staff in the event of him staying.”
That appears a drastic change in the wording around his job security, when previously it was maintained that Fenway Sports Group would continue to back the 47-year-old.
It comes with growing criticism of Slot within the Merseyside press, with Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Man United only heightening the scrutiny.
Liverpool interested in Feyenoord assistant Etienne Reijnen

Van Bronckhorst’s potential move back to Feyenoord comes amid interest in the Dutch club’s assistant manager Etienne Reijnen.
Reijnen was poised to follow Slot to Liverpool in 2024 but was unable to secure a work permit, however the circumstances have changed and the set-piece specialist would now be eligible.
If appointed he is unlikely to arrive as a direct replacement for Van Bronckhorst, instead filling the void left when Aaron Briggs departed by mutual consent in December.

Briggs was officially confirmed in a new role as set-piece coach last summer but a glaring issue in that area of Liverpool’s game prompted a change.
However there appear doubts over whether Reijnen will come in, with it not certain that Slot will remain in the dugout beyond May.
Could Arne Slot leave Liverpool this summer?

With the Reds still fighting for a top-five finish that would secure Champions League football for the next campaign there can be no shift in focus from the task at hand.
But whether Slot’s future comes into consideration after the final game of the season against Brentford remains to be seen.
It would of course be wrong to read too much into six words, but the caveat that any review would come “in the event of him staying” seems a deliberate turn of phrase from Liverpool’s most-esteemed journalist.
