Transfer news: Sunderland and Everton linked with £25m-rated former Blackburn Rovers defender

Sunderland are among the Premier League clubs credited with interest in Osasuna defender Enzo Boyomo

Sunderland have been credited with interest in £25million-rated Osasuna defender Enzo Boyomo ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, several Premier League clubs are monitoring the Cameroon international after his latest impressive display against Barcelona. Everton, Brighton and Sunderland are all said to have shown interest, while Serie A side Como are also reportedly keeping tabs on the centre-back.

Boyomo, 24, has built a strong reputation in Spain after progressing through Albacete and Real Valladolid before joining Osasuna in 2024. He played a key role in Valladolid’s promotion to La Liga before earning a move to Osasuna, where he signed a five-year contract.

The defender was born in Toulouse and spent time in Blackburn Rovers’ academy earlier in his career before moving into Spanish football. He has since established himself as a regular in La Liga and has also broken into the Cameroon national team. Speaking on social media, Moretto highlighted Boyomo’s performance against Barcelona, claiming he impressed, citing his 100 per cent accuracy in defensive duels. That has added to growing interest from England, with Sunderland among the clubs named.

Régis Le Bris’ side are expected to strengthen again this summer as they look to build on their first season back in the Premier League. Centre-back could be one area monitored, particularly with Sunderland continuing to look for players with strong athletic profiles, room to develop and experience in major European leagues with potential resale value down the line as Sunderland look to extend their model.
