"I've heard..."- New claim emerges over Arne Slot sack status at Liverpool after latest defeat

**Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has made a new claim regarding Arne Slot’s future at Anfield, as the pressure on him continues to build.**

The Reds lost 3-2 at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, producing a woeful first half display – one we have seen far too often this season.

After three wins in a row in the Premier League, Liverpool came back down to reality, with many supporters still wanting to see Slot sacked at the end of the campaign.

Speaking to _NewBettingSites.co.uk_ \[via [_GOAL_](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/liverpool-didi-hamann-arne-slot-future-premier-league/blt47773f47ad21fbc0)\] before the United game, Hamann said that Slot is expected to remain in charge this summer:

_“I’ve heard that Arne Slot will be there next season. I think there’s a case to be made that maybe a change of manager should happen or should have happened. But Liverpool have always been very loyal to their managers. He won the league last season of course so I think it’s a decision I can live with, and I think most fans can live with, if they have a decent finish to the season.”_

_“For probably the first time in a long time Liverpool fans are split, it’s a very knowledgeable fan base and Liverpool doesn’t usually sack managers._

_“That’s obviously changed in the last 10 or 12 years because the game has changed and managers have to leave quicker than they did 20 or 25 years ago. But usually when the fan base turns, it’s a matter of time before the manager has to go.”_

**Arne Slot will be lucky to keep his job at Liverpool**

This claim is unlikely to go down well with many Liverpool fans, many of whom have lost faith in Slot after an awful season at Anfield.

Granted, there are positives to being patient and loyal – something which doesn’t exist enough in modern football – but it is hard to see the Dutchman turning things around.

Like the end of Brendan Rodgers’ reign before Jurgen Klopp, there is too much going wrong, including quality of play, tactical work and fitness, and the ending feels painfully predictable.

If Slot does stay, the hope is that new signings will improve Liverpool’s team and that this was a one-off blip for a year, but a change in the dugout feels like the best outcome.
