Marcos Senesi is set to leave Bournemouth on a free transfer this summer and Liverpool have “a lot of interest,” with new claims of an “unexpected” move.
Senesi has emerged as one of the most interesting free agents ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Argentine’s contract at Bournemouth set to expire.
The 28-year-old is attracting interest from a number of clubs including Tottenham, who have been positioned as favourites for his signature if they avoid relegation.
But transfer journalist Matteo Moretto has now claimed on X that Liverpool could be an “unexpected solution” for the centre-back.

Liverpool’s centre-back search: Senesi and Van Hecke ‘contact’

Dutch publication Voetbal International wrote last week that contact had been made over a possible deal for Van Hecke, who will enter the final year of his contract this summer.
The suggestion is that Liverpool are at least considering their options when it comes to a new centre-back signing.
That could be tied to the ongoing talks over Ibrahima Konate‘s contract, or simply further reinforcement as Virgil van Dijk turns 35 this summer while both Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni are recovering from long-term injuries.
Joe Gomez could also leave the club at the end of the season as he will have 12 months remaining on his terms and has started only 26 times in two seasons under Arne Slot.
Why Liverpool would want Marcos Senesi

Senesi would tick a lot of boxes for Liverpool, as an aggressive, ball-playing centre-back who is most comfortable on the left-hand side.
He could provide essential cover for Van Dijk or cement himself as a starter, especially in the event of a switch to a three-man defence.
Chelsea, Man United, Aston Villa and Everton have also been credited with an interest by The i Paper‘s Pete Hall and Mark Douglas, who last month described Liverpool as Senesi’s “most likely” destination.
Senesi has been claimed to be seeking wages of around £70,000 per week, which would place him among Liverpool’s lowest earners, though his current salary is as yet unconfirmed.
The Big Debate
Would Marcos Senesi be a smart addition on a free transfer?
With Arne Slot already familiar with the Argentine from their time at Feyenoord and Joe Gomez‘s future uncertain, a low-cost move for a left-footed specialist could provide vital experience to the back line.
