Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has responded to claims made by Wayne Rooney's that his 'legs had gone', insisting he still has plenty left in the tank. Salah, 33, is set to depart leave the Reds next month which will see his nine-year spell at Anfield come to an end.

The Egyptian was Liverpool's leading scorer as they won the Premier League title last season, yet has managed just seven top-flight goals this term. Salah has one year remaining on his contract at Anfield but has opted to move on in the summer transfer window.

Weighing in on Salah's dip in form on The Wayne Rooney Show, the former Manchester United and Everton striker said: "I've said this since the start of the season, age gets to us all and your legs go. I think that's happened to Salah this season and Virgil van Dijk hasn't been the same this season."

However, speaking to fellow Liverpool great Steven Gerrard for TNT Sports, Salah, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury was unavailable for Sunday's 3-2 defeat to United, was keen to dispel any concerns over his fitness.

"I feel good, body wise I feel all right," Salah said.

"I didn't become old overnight. Last season I had this incredible season, I think I have a lot to give and I will see what is the best for me.

"To go through the season, I feel like this is the right thing to do now and I have peace with it. The season was tough for all of us. I don't want to say much."

Salah also provided an update on his fitness and confessed that his future destination remains uncertain, with speculation linking him to offers from Saudi Arabia as well as European clubs.

"Honestly, physically I feel I have a lot to give," Salah added. "I played many games this season. I haven't decided what I am going to do yet, I have a lot of good options. Physically, I feel fine, I feel what I did over the years paid off, I feel good.

"I will see what is best for me. For sure, the injury is fine. I will hopefully be back (before Brentford on the final day)."

Liverpool have three further fixtures following the defeat to United, as they battle to qualify for the Champions League.

Arne Slot's side will face Chelsea before making the trip to Aston Villa, prior to hosting Brentford on the final day of the campaign.
