Liverpool is searching the market for potential successors to Alisson Becker, with Juventus poised to challenge its resolve with a bid for its established No. 1 goalkeeper.

Alisson has 12 months remaining on his existing deal after Liverpool activated an extension clause in March, though a summer departure remains possible. The 33-year-old shot-stopper has featured 332 times for Liverpool since becoming first choice following his move from Roma in the summer of 2018.

However, his campaign has been significantly disrupted by fitness issues, and these setbacks could mark the conclusion of his spell on Merseyside. Juventus has emerged as a genuine suitor for Alisson, who is understood to be receptive to departing Liverpool.

The Serie A club could propose a swap arrangement involving their goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, in return for the experienced Brazilian.

Juventus is believed to be prepared to offer Alisson terms running until summer 2028 with an additional year's option. Sky Sports reports that Liverpool is conscious of developments and is consequently identifying alternatives ahead of a pivotal transfer window.

The Reds already know they will lose Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson this summer, and may also need a new goalkeeper.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has deputized for Alisson, featuring 18 times across all competitions this season, but is currently sidelined himself, leaving third-choice Freddie Woodman as Slot's sole available option at present.

Slot was recently questioned about the prospect of losing Alisson in the same window as Robertson and Salah.

In response, he said: "I think the club is run in a certain way and we make decisions that the club thinks are in the best interests of the club. And it could mean this is the reason why. It could mean another good argument why we acted how we acted.

"I think the history of all the transfers shows that nothing was done without a purpose or without thinking about it.

"Look, the people who make these decisions take everything into account. They try to make the best decisions with the interest of the club.

"It (experience) is definitely one argument to keep him, but there are other arguments. That is a decision the club has to make if that is needed. In the end, he still has one year."

Turning his attention to Juventus' interest specifically, Slot said: "The main focus for Ali is very clear, that is getting back in goal as soon as possible for the club he loves to play for, and then he wants to be in goal for the country he wants to play for, that is Brazil.

"I think that is already the short and mid-term future."
