Manchester City’s title bid suffered a crushing blow, despite them recovering from a second-half capitulation to snatch a 3-3 draw at Everton.
Jeremy Doku curled in a superb stoppage-time equaliser to earn City a point in their pursuit of Premier League leaders Arsenal, but the two dropped at Hill Dickinson Stadium could be highly damaging.
City led 1-0 at half-time following Doku’s first goal of a dramatic night, but Everton hit back with three goals in the space of 14 minutes, substitute Thierno Barry scoring a brace either side of a Jake O’Brien header.
Erling Haaland quickly responded as City battled back and Doku had the final say with the last kick of the game, leaving City trailing Arsenal by five points with just one game in hand.

Forest took a significant step towards Premier League survival after a second-string side plunged Chelsea’s season to a dispiriting new low.
Taiwo Awoniyi’s double and a penalty from Igor Jesus secured a 3-1 success at Stamford Bridge as Vitor Pereira’s visitors moved six points clear of the relegation zone.
With Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Aston Villa in mind, Forest boss Vitor Pereira made eight changes for the trip to west London.
But Chelsea could not capitalise and slipped to a sixth successive top-flight loss after Cole Palmer’s first-half penalty was saved by Matz Sels before Joao Pedro claimed a late consolation.
Arteta: Arsenal ready to play like ‘beasts’
Arteta said Arsenal are ready to activate “beast” mode for their crunch Champions League semi-final clash against Atletico.

Speaking on the eve of the decisive European clash in London – with either Paris St Germain or Bayern Munich waiting in the final – Arteta said: “We will take to the pitch as beasts tomorrow and enjoy the moment and go for it.
“I can’t wait. I feel the energy among the team and our supporters. This is the moment that we want to live together.”

Lawrence Shankland kept Hearts on course for Scottish Premiership glory as they all but eliminated one of their two main rivals from contention by coming from behind to defeat Rangers 2-1 at a frenzied Tynecastle.
The Gers arrived in Edinburgh four points off the pace and it looked like they might be about to blow the three-way battle for the championship wide open when they led at the break through Dujon Sterling’s deflected effort.
But Hearts, having been outplayed for long periods of the first half, regrouped at the interval and turned the game around through goals from Stephen Kingsley and captain Shankland.
The Jambos are now three points ahead of second-placed Celtic with a superior goal difference and seven clear of Gers, with just three games remaining of a compelling title race.
