Liverpool's defeat to Manchester United on Sunday marked yet another setback in the reigning Premier League champions' campaign. The Reds succumbed to a 3-2 loss at Old Trafford which confirmed their bitter rivals' Champions League qualification for next season.

The disheartening result did little to damage Liverpool's own pursuit of European football, with Arne Slot's side requiring just four points from their remaining three fixtures to secure their place.

Yet another lacklustre display has left much of the fanbase frustrated ahead of a summer that will see them bid farewell to club legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson. Grievances within the Reds' dressing room have emerged as Slot's post-match conduct was shared widely online. We examine the key talking points emerging from Anfield...

Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko found the net inside the opening 14 minutes to leave Liverpool trailing 2-0 at the interval. The Reds responded with intensity as Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo struck within nine minutes of one another, before Kobbie Mainoo's 74th-minute goal sealed the victory.

Ibrahima Konate has disclosed that grievances were voiced in the Liverpool dressing room regarding a failure to win sufficient duels and demonstrate greater mental resilience.

The France international explained: "It was just about the mentality. In the first half we lost many challenges on the pitch. When it was 50-50, most of them Manchester [United] won them on the pitch.

"But in the second half we just had to change it and change the mentality. This is what we have done and that's why we scored two good goals with our pressing, with our aggressiveness. But we needed a little bit more."

Slot creates controversy

As Slot made his way back towards the tunnel after the final whistle with his head bowed, he faced jeers from United supporters. While he refrained from a verbal response, the Dutchman replied with a straightforward hand gesture, displaying six fingers to the crowd.

The Reds manager appeared to reference the six Champions League titles Liverpool have won, in footage that emerged on social media. Slot wasn't the only one responding to the United faithful.
