Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones sees a move to newly-crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan as a “particularly attractive option”, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the Nerazzurri are now one of three teams who are very interested in recruiting the 25-year-old at the end of the season.

Inter made enquiries about signing Jones during the January transfer window, but the Reds were not open to letting the midfielder leave midway through the campaign, especially on loan.

However, it now appears the Italian giants will have competition from two Premier League clubs for the England international.

Aston Villa have made enquiries recently, but TEAMtalk report that Newcastle have also started monitoring Jones’ situation at Anfield.

Why is Jones’ future at the club uncertain?

The fact that the player is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract means there will be interest from other teams.

Liverpool have not extended his current deal. For what reason, it is not known. He has been a regular starter under Arne Slot this season, having been in the first eleven 25 times.

However, there have been suggestions that Jones wants to become a key player, and he has sometimes been overlooked by Slot in favour of Alexis Mac Allister, despite the Argentinian being woefully out of form.

Will Liverpool sell the midfielder?

A lot may depend on what type of offers they get. Inter’s loan proposal in January was never going to fly, and if they don’t come up with a sizeable offer this summer, a move to Italy may not happen, despite it being an attractive destination for Jones.

Villa still have financial concerns that may limit their movement in the transfer market, and Newcastle are in a similar boat. If the Magpies do sell Sandro Tonali, though, it would open up a space for a new signing in the Italian’s position.
