With the summer transfer window on the horizon, Liverpool are expected to be active in the market as Arne Slot looks to fine-tune his squad after a poor Premier League campaign.
Depth and competition across the backline remains an area of discussion at Anfield, and it appears the Reds’ recruitment team have already been doing their homework on potential targets across Europe.
One name that has landed on Liverpool’s radar is Moustapha Mbow – the Paris FC captain who has been one of the standout centre-backs in Ligue 1 this season.
According to RMC Sport, Liverpool is among a number of Premier League clubs closely monitoring the Senegalese defender, with the Anfield club having reportedly already made an enquiry.
Mbow is far from short of admirers. Crystal Palace, Fulham, and West Ham United have all reportedly submitted concrete offers, while Ipswich Town are also in the mix. On top of that, clubs from the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are said to be tracking his situation, meaning Paris FC could face a fierce battle to retain their captain this summer.
The 26-year-old centre-back has been nothing short of commanding for Paris FC in 2025/26, racking up 30 appearances in Ligue 1 and earning the trust of head coach Antoine Kombouare to lead the side as skipper. Standing at 187cm, Mbow is a dominant aerial presence who consistently tops the clearance charts.
RMC Sport’s Aurélien Tiercin reports:
“At the end of his contract in 2028, Moustapha Mbow is at a crossroads in his career. Comfortable and well integrated at Paris FC, in an ambitious club, he does not yet have an offer of an extension but the club would like to keep him and he is not opposed to the idea of continuing in the capital.”
“But offers have already arrived at the Senegalese’s clan, including three important arrivals from Premier League clubs. Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham (who risk relegation to the Championship) are them, not to mention Liverpool, who are further back and have already inquired about their case, and Ipswich Town, recently promoted to the PL.”
Whether Liverpool choose to firm up their interest or not, Mbow’s situation feels like the kind of opportunity Anfield’s new sporting structure will want to have full visibility on. A 26-year-old, left-footed, aerially strong captain entering his prime and attracting rivals across the Premier League is exactly the profile that tends to move early in a busy summer window.
