Liverpool injury latest on Stefan Bajcetic with the midfielder not making a single appearance this season.

Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic is still nowhere near close to returning to fitness, reports suggest.

Bajcetic was regarded as one of the Reds’ brightest prospects when he broke into the first team aged 17 during the 2022-23 season. His performances won praise from former manager Jurgen Klopp, Mohamed Salah and ex-captain Jordan Henderson amid a disappointing campaign.

But Bajcetic missed virtually the entire 2023-24 season because of injury, with his last Liverpool appearance coming in a 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur on 5 May 2024. The former Celta Vigo man spent last term on loan at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas, playing 33 times for the respective clubs but suffered a hamstring issue at the latter. Bajcetic has surgery last summer and he has not made a single appearance at any level this campaign.

Bajcetic is out of contract at Anfield in 2027 and he turns 22 in October. Certainly, his future remains uncertain given his fitness woes . Per This Is Anfield, Bajcetic is still working in the gym after suffering a setback. He is still do return to outdoor work and ‘not close’ to rubbing shoulders with the rest of his team-mates at the AXA Training Centre.

Speaking on Bajcetic when he broke into Liverpool’s team, Klopp said: “So far there were no signs we have to rest him, which is good for us. Stefan played exceptional and not because he is only 18, he just played exceptional.

"Top talent, super player. Played really good for us so far. Since he is with us it is a pure joy to work with him. I think the mix of Serbia and Spain is a good one for football. If you meet him he is a top, intelligent boy and it is a joy to work together.

"The interesting thing is his dad and Thiago’s dad played together for Celta Vigo so not only Thiago, but Thiago as well took him under his wing. He has a great bunch of players around him that he can work from and he is an absolute joy."
