Due to ongoing construction timelines for the North Stand development, our all-Manchester final will take place at the Joie Stadium, with information on tickets for the game to be available in due course.
This will be the Club’s 14th appearance in the showpiece of the prestigious competition following wins over Fulham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Blackburn en route to the final.
It will also be the first Manchester derby FA Youth Cup final since 1986, when the previous format of the competition saw the final take place across two legs.
After a 1-1 draw in the opening match that year, City won the competition for the first time after a 2-0 win at Maine Road in the second leg.
Our team included the likes of Ian Brightwell, David White, Paul Lake and Paul Moulden, who all went on the have impressive stints with City’s first-team and were led by manager Tony Book.
Now, we’ll be going for a fifth success in the FA Youth Cup when we lock horns with our cross-city rivals.
Manchester United secured their place in the final after they overcame Peterborough United, Derby County, Oxford United, Sunderland and Crystal Palace.
Our Manchester derby final will be City’s third encounter with United this term. Our first saw City complete a fantastic 4-2 comeback win at Carrington before falling to a frustrating 3-1 defeat in the reverse league fixture.
But the loss on home soil did not stop City from the task at hand as Reiss’ young Blues held off second-place United to retain the title for a second successive season with two games left to play.
Ahead of the final, details of our match coverage will be available on mancity.com and the Official Man City App later this month.
