Liverpool owner John Henry expressed that fan discontent motivates him to work harder to achieve his goals, as supporters of several of the sports clubs that he owns continue to vent their frustrations about the FSG co-founder.

Liverpool's supporters have recently protested against planned ticket price rises at Anfield, while fans of the Boston Red Sox have also been left disappointed by a lack of communication from Henry following the recent firing of head coach Alex Cora and several coaches.

Henry, who rarely communicates publicly, sent an email to Sports Business Journal, which said: “Fans get frustrated. The Sox looked terrible for (their) first 25 games.

"I remember a plane flying overhead when we (Liverpool) were beating Manchester United 7-0 that read ‘FSG OUT!’”

“It doesn’t mean you ignore them, it means you work harder – you don’t settle for mediocrity. You have to win."

Liverpool supporters' union Spirit of Shankly handed out thousands of yellow cards to fans outside Anfield ahead of last month's Premier League game against Crystal Palace, and supporters raised them in the 13th minute of the encounter in a protest against planned ticket price rises.

Spirit of Shankly also wrote an open letter to FSG ahead of the game, encouraging it to reverse its decision to increase prices.

"We understand the importance of running the club sustainably, but don't believe this should be at the expense of supporters," the letter reads.

"We acknowledge an 85% increase in matchday operation costs, over the past decade, but these come in part due to the expansion of the stadium.

"Matchday revenue is also up by 85%, so the costs are surely covered? The club's total revenues have also grown by 133% to £703m.

"As supporter representatives we face a unique challenge – wanting the very best for our club in the short, medium and long term.

"Decisions made by the current custodians will impact supporters, some of whom are not yet born, for generations to come.

"We want to be able to say: we did all we could to ensure the support and traditions continue to be passed on."

It followed a demonstration which took place during Liverpool's win over Fulham earlier in April, when some fans walked around the stadium holding up a banner which said: "No to ticket price increases."
