The left-wing position seems to be a particularly prioritized area of attention for FC Barcelona as they go into the next summer transfer window.
The Blaugranes are not yet decided about [whether to exercise the €30 million permanent purchase option on Marcus Rashford](https://semprebarca.com/report-reveals-why-marcus-rashfords-barcelona-stay-is-in-limbo/), even though there are only a few weeks left till his loan period expires.
Meanwhile, the Catalans are also being linked with several other names in the market for this position, including the likes of Ez Abde. But another name is now also being linked with them, i.e., the Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon.
In fact, [SPORT](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/cumbre-deco-agentes-anthony-gordon-129848869) reports that there has already been a meeting between Deco and the agents of the English forward. Bojan Krkic was also present in this meeting, which took place last Thursday.
The meeting involved agents Will Salthouse and Adam Dugdale from Unique Sports, who are currently touring Europe to meet several clubs. The objective from Barcelona’s side was to gain a clearer understanding of Gordon’s contractual situation and evaluate the conditions of a potential deal.
However, any move for the 25-year-old English winger looks highly complicated at this stage. Gordon remains under contract until 2030, with a valuation of around €60 million, but offers close to €80 million have already been made in recent weeks.
This makes it very difficult for Barcelona to compete financially, especially when compared to the significantly lower cost required to sign Rashford.
In addition to the financial challenges, Bayern Munich are also pushing strongly for Gordon and have maintained consistent contact with his camp. The German side sees him as a key attacking reinforcement and is currently ahead in the race for his signature.
As things stand, Barcelona have not ruled out the operation entirely due to the player’s strong sporting appeal. However, the deal remains very complex and will largely depend on outgoing transfers and greater financial clarity before the club can make a definitive move to strengthen the left wing.
