Arsenal eyeing shock move to sign one of Barcelona's best players this season - report

Arsenal are eyeing a shock summer move to sign Manchester United star Marcus Rashford ahead of Barcelona, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal booked their place in the Champions League final following a 1-0 win against Atletico Madrid at the Emirates in the second leg of their semi-final tie on Tuesday night.

The Gunners will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich in the final in the Hungarian capital Budapest later this month, with the duo set to continue their amazing battle in Germany on Wednesday night following their first leg 5-4 scoreline.

As well as competing to win the Champions League for the first time in their history, the north Londoners' chances of winning the Premier League title were boosted when Manchester City dropped points in their 3-3 draw against Everton on Monday night.

Mikel Arteta's men now know that if they win their remaining three matches against West Ham United, Burnley and Crystal Palace, two of which currently lie in the relegation zone, they will win their first title since 2004.

Bukayo Saka was the matchwinner for Arsenal on Tuesday night, but it is another England international winger that is emerging on the club's transfer shortlist.

Arsenal Monitoring Marcus Rashford Situation

According to the Daily Mail, Marcus Rashford is unlikely to have a long-term future at Manchester United despite his fine form on loan at Barcelona this season.

The La Liga giants are trying to renegotiate the forward's £26m buy option in negotiations with the Red Devils and get him for a lower price, or they want to take the England international on loan again next season.

United want a permanent exit though and to offload another high earner after Casemiro, with the player on a £315,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford, as Arsenal and Champions League semi-finalists Bayern Munich monitor the situation.

Rashford has been in outstanding form for Barcelona this term, with 13 goals and 14 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish outfit, who are on the verge of winning the La Liga title.

Arsenal Could Battle Man United for Another Winger

Man United need to resolve Rashford's future and ideally offload him to boost their chances of bringing in a new left-winger, with AC Milan forward Rafael Leao a target.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on the Portugal international though, who could be sold for a cut-price fee by the Serie A club this summer.

Despite proving he can be one of the best wingers in Europe on his day, the 26-year-old has struggled for consistency and is said to be available for £50-60m at the end of the season.

The Gunners' interest in Rashford and Leao suggests there could be doubts over the future of Gabriel Martinelli, who has been the club's first-choice option on the left wing for many seasons now.
