Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has moved a step closer to joining Juventus, with reports from Italy indicating that he has agreed personal terms on a return to Serie A.

Alisson is a veteran of eight years at Liverpool, during which he has been constantly recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, justifying the €72.5 million that the Reds paid Roma to sign him in 2018.

Now 33, the Anfield side face a major decision over the keeper, who has just a year left to run on his contract: do they sell him now or face losing him for nothing in 12 months?

Alisson agrees three-year Juventus contract

Alisson has made the solution at least a little easier by agreeing a contract with Juventus, according to transfer expert Nicolo Schira, who reports on X:

“Alisson Becker has agreed personal terms with Juventus for a contract until 2029 worth €5m per year.

“Juventus are now working to try to reach a deal with Liverpool, which has not decided if they will sell the goalkeeper yet. Transfer talks are open.”

Schira’s report comes only hours after Tuttosport claimed that Alisson is ‘rushing’ towards a move to Juventus.

The Turin-based source claims: “The Brazilian’s entourage is working to reach a painless separation from Liverpool, who have exercised their automatic contract renewal until June 2027.

“A three-year contract has reportedly already been agreed with Juve. Alarm bells are also ringing in defence, where Luciano Spalletti is looking for players with a greater propensity for build-up play.

“While the path to Marcos Senesi is becoming more complicated (Liverpool has the advantage), negotiations with Club Brugge for Joel Ordonez remain open.”

Is Mamardashvili ready to replace Alisson?

Liverpool signed Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in 2024 for €30m to be the heir for Alisson, yet there are still some questions over whether the 25-year-old Georgia international is ready to make the step up.

According to SciSports, the goalkeeping area is one of Liverpool's weaknesses currently, with none of their senior options ranking among the club’s top players. According to the analysis of the data analytics firm, Alisson is their top option but comes in only 15th in Arne Slot’s squad.

Selling Alisson, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €14.9m, to Juventus could therefore mean that Liverpool have to go into the market for a new keeper – but it may be that they would have had to do that anyway given SciSports’ brutal analysis.
