Jurgen Klopp could be set for another Anfield return on last day of the season

Jurgen Klopp could make another trip to Anfield on the final day of the season after lining up a commitment in the UK over the same weekend.

Klopp has largely kept his distance from Anfield since leaving the club, visiting at the end of last season to watch Liverpool lift the Premier League title.

He remains actively involved with the club’s foundation, though, which saw him act as assistant manager to Sir Kenny Dalglish for Legends’ charity match against Borussia Dortmund in March.

And he could be set to make another appearance on the final day of the season against Brentford, as he is due to speak at the FAW National Coaches Conference in Wales over the same weekend.

The event will take place in Newport, South Wales, a four-hour journey by car to Liverpool, which could prompt a trip north for a day that will centre around bidding farewell to club legends he signed.

Mo Salah and Andy Robertson will both make their final bows against Brentford, while Alisson could also be added to the list if a move to Juventus transpires.

The match will also see Caoimhin Kelleher and Jordan Henderson return, the latter of whom Salah expressed a desire to see given a send-off after his surprise 2023 exit saw him forgo one.

Thus, there are plenty of reasons for Klopp to make the journey to Anfield if his itinerary allows, but there is a reason he could also choose to stay away from the 4pm (BST) kickoff.

After his return with the Liverpool Legends, Klopp admitted he “didn’t want to show his face” due to the current situation regarding Arne Slot‘s future.

“First, it was going so good [for Liverpool under Slot] and I didn’t want to jinx it,” he told reporters.

“Then it’s going not so good and I didn’t want to show my face. But I had to because I committed to this (Legends match) so long ago.”

With continued uncertainty over Slot’s future, Klopp could be in two minds as to the impact his presence may have, especially having seen the reaction to his fist pumps in March!
