Liverpool transfer targets: Adam Wharton now joined by two Ligue 1 midfielders

Liverpool are considering a summer move for Adam Wharton, but the Englishman is not the only midfielder the club are targeting, with a further two players namechecked.

With Wataru Endo expected to depart and doubts over Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones, an area in need of attention has become more important to address this summer.

Wharton has been widely reported to be of interest to Liverpool, with the Crystal Palace midfielder offering the progressive profile they need in a specialist No. 6.

Liverpool journalist David Lynch stated on his YouTube channel that Liverpool “like him a lot,” and while there can be no “absolute guarantee” they will make a move, he is “definitely” on their “radar.”

But it certainly stands to reason that the club will be actively pursuing multiple midfield deals, especially with the abovementioned prospect of further departures.

On his SubStack, Lynch notes Monaco’s Lamine Camara and Mamadou Sangare of Lens have both been watched closely and are among the emerging targets.

This follows *The Telegraph*‘s Dominic King namechecking 23-year-old Sangare, with it said that Liverpool “will be aware” of the Mali international after his impressive debut season at Lens.

The trio are all in the 22-23 age range, are capped at international level, and have over 100 senior club appearances, qualities which we know the club value highly.

Sangare fits the mould of a high-intensity central midfielder who also has high progressive passing capabilities, traits which Liverpool’s midfield needs more of.

And Camara, while small in stature, is comfortable in physical battles, winning 6.7 duels per 90 minutes in Ligue 1, and helps provide urgency and intensity in the middle of the pitch.

You can start to see the obvious qualities that they each share, creating a clear profile of the midfielders Liverpool are keeping an eye on heading into the summer.
