Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy says there is a $47M left-back already playing in the Premier League who Arne Slot and Richard Hughes should sign to replace Andy Robertson

With Andy Robertson moving on this summer, Liverpool will be losing a quality left-back and a vital part of the leadership group behind the scenes.
No next destination has been confirmed yet, though Tottenham has been most heavily linked, and Robertson should not be short of options. He remains capable of playing at a high level, and Liverpool will need a replacement.
The returning Kostas Tsimikas would be the easiest fix. However, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has another idea: Lewis Hall, the ex-Chelsea player that Newcastle signed for a fee that could reach $47 million (£35 million) in 2024.

"To be honest, depending on what happens with the Newcastle situation, I'm a huge fan of Hall," Murphy said.
"I think he's a wonderful player, a brilliant footballer, and when it comes to one-on-one defending, he’s very, very good. It's probably unlikely you're going to get him out because it it looks like Sandro Tonali might go and Anthony Gordon might go.
"But if Newcastle do have to sell and you can pinch him, even if you have to pay a bit more for him, he's still a young man, he's got the Premier League experience, and I think he's been one of Newcastle's shining lights this season."
Murphy believes that Liverpool needs to sign some experience with Robertson moving on. Mohamed Salah is also leaving and Alisson Becker has interest from Juventus.

Jeremie Frimpong has also played as much as a winger than a full-back this season, though that has been in part due to a lack of regular options in the forward line.
"I haven't really thought about it, but what I would say is, irrelevant of who, I think Liverpool need a really established quality right-back," Murphy, speaking to Betarades.gr, continued.
"Frimpong looks more like a wing-back or a winger to me. He hasn't really looked that comfortable playing at right-back. That can change, I've seen it in the past where players after their first season settle and get more comfortable in their surroundings.
"At left-back, although Milos Kerkez is a trier and he's improved, is he at the level Liverpool need to win league titles and the Champions League?
"My feeling is that he's not. He's probably an understudy; he's probably a back-up. Now, if you've got 60 games in a season and you're competing in all competitions, you can't just have one. But he's not better than Robertson.

"When you think of Liverpool in the years gone by, you think of Trent and Robbo. You know you've got that wonderful attacking ability from both of them.

"Both good footballers and calm on the ball, and that settles down the center-halves. I think Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk have suffered because of the changes in the full-back areas."
Liverpool.com says: Spending big money — and it would take mega money to convince Newcastle to sell — doesn't seem likely. The Reds already have Kerkez and he has settled well in his first season at Anfield. He is very capable and still very young.
Tsimikas is coming back from his loan spell with AS Roma. While he has far from set the world alight in Serie A, he is a dependable and solid second choice who won't play all that much from the start.
