Bayern Munich insist Michael Olise is unsellable with their stance inspired by a conversation they had after Chelsea offered a world record sum more than a decade ago.
Olise has proved to be an inspired buy, joining from Crystal Palace in 2024. He's now forming part of one of Europe's most feared forward lines alongside Harry Kane and Luis Diaz.
The Frenchman, who previously plied his trade with Reading before joining the Eagles, has continued to ooze class and currently has 21 goals to his name. He's come up with some incredible moments, scoring a stunner against Real Madrid earlier in the Champions League, and Bayern bosses insist he would never be sold.
That was a decision they took after Chelsea tried to buy Franck Ribery from them when he was in his absolute prime. Bayern decided to never offload a player who would ultimately make them worse - and they've stuck by that principle.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge explained: “In 2009, we received an incredible offer from Chelsea for Franck Ribéry. At the time, it would have been a new world transfer record. I then went to our then CFO Karl Hopfner and Uli Hoeneß. We discussed for two hours what to do with that offer.
"On that day, we made a fundamental decision: that in the future, we would no longer sell any player whom we would miss from a sporting perspective. And that unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Olise, there is no price tag that would make us flinch."
Olise moved to the Allianz Arena for around £50million, but the Bavarians could still bank a huge profit if they did want to sell the Frenchman. This is the second straight year where the 24-year-old has hit the 20-goal barrier and Rummenigge has praised his humility.

“He is a wonderful player," said the German great. "I also like the fact that he is so reserved and almost media-shy. That is the exception in today’s world. He is a good guy, and on the pitch he is of course outstanding, the way he celebrates football and almost performs magic. That is why it doesn’t surprise me that he is so incredibly popular and hyped among our fans."
Bayern boss Vincent Kompany believes his winger will "be one of the best in the world one day" with Olise continuing to blossom in one of the continent's elite teams. The Belgian claimed: “He’s on the right track now. Everything he does is right. His level now is one of the best in Europe."
