One of the names that is on AC Milan’s radar if they have to make a managerial change is Xabi Alonso, Carlo Pellegatti claims.
In this crucial season finale, there continues to be a lot of speculation about major changes at Milan. While the repeated meetings between Allegri and the management appear to be signs of planning for the future, it still feels as though a managerial change cannot be 100% ruled out.
It has been stated by sources like Calciomercato.com that Allegri’s future would be up in the air without top four, while Sportitalia are among those to claim he is thinking about leaving regardless due to a poor relationship with certain figures in the hierarchy.
Post-Allegri: Italiano or Alonso?
Pellegatti spoke out in his latest video published on his YouTube channel. Among the various topics discussed, the fate of Allegri and his relationship with Giorgio Furlani was mentioned, as well as possible replacements.
“It remains to be seen what Massimiliano Allegri will do. I don’t think he’ll be able to continue with Furlani, that’s my feeling,” he said.
“If Max were to leave, the candidate would be Italiano, who is rumoured to be leaving Bologna. The coach who Milan liked as an alternative to Allegri – a thought from a few months ago – is Xabi Alonso.
“But he seems destined for Chelsea. When it was said that Furlani made a trip to Düsseldorf last year, it was precisely to sound out Xabi Alonso.”
