Arsenal and Man City monitoring Chelsea star

Arsenal booked their place in the Champions League final courtesy of a 1-0 win over Spanish side Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

The Gunners had been held to a 1-1 draw by their La Liga counterparts in the first leg in Madrid last week, but went ahead at The Emirates shortly before half-time when Bukayo Saka prodded home.

Mikel Arteta’s side held on to secure victory and book their place in the final in Budapest later this month, where they will face either Bayern Munich or holders Paris Saint-Germain.

In the meantime, it has emerged that Arsenal are interested in one of the Premier League’s biggest stars.

According to TEAMtalk, both Arsenal and Manchester City have been monitoring Enzo Fernandez’s situation at Chelsea.

The Argentine is an integral player for the Blues but was recently left out of two matchday squads by former head coach Liam Rosenior after comments made which appeared to suggest a desire to one day play in Madrid.

The 25-year-old became the most expensive player in British football history when he joined Chelsea from Portuguese side Benfica back in 2023, although that record has since been surpassed.

In total Fernandez has scored 29 goals and provided 28 assists in 168 appearances for the west London outfit across all competitions, including the winning goal as they beat Leeds United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup earlier this month.

It is claimed, however, that the Argentina international is one of several first team players at Stamford Bridge that have become confused by the direction that the club is heading in.

Chelsea are currently on the hunt for their sixth permanent head coach since their American owners took charge back in 2022, and they are also at risk of missing out on qualification for Europe next term.
