Steven Gerrard was left stunned by the quality of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia early on in the Champions League second leg clash between PSG and Bayern Munich.

Carrying on where they left off last week at the Parc des Princes, PSG moved in front on the night when Georgian ace Kvaratskhelia raced past his man and crossed low for Ousmane Dembele to smash past Manuel Neuer within three minutes.

"Perfect start by PSG," Liverpool legend Gerrard said. "I'm surprised by how aggressive they were out of the blocks — very high pressing, every single player. They got their rewards. It's a fantastic move down the left. Pure quality.

"It's training ground stuff. It's stuff you work on all the time — repetition and repetition. These players, they just deliver."

Ally McCoist called the goal "ridiculous" and "sensational". The winner of the second semi-final, of course, will take on Arsenal in Budapest.

Desire Doue, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise were both praised too, with both TNT Sports commentators suggesting they had never seen a game with a collection of wingers of such a high level.

Kvaratskhelia, in teeing up Dembele, became the first player to score or assist in seven consecutive knockout stage appearances in the same Champions League season.

Since his debut for PSG after he signed from Napoli in February 2025, no player has been directly involved in more Champions League goals than the 24-year-old. He is level on 21 (13 goals, eight assists) with Harry Kane.

"Both right-backs are having problems," McCoist said. Warren Zaire-Emery, a midfielder playing at full-back, was being given a tough time by Diaz down the Bayern Munich left.

Last week, Diaz starred in getting the Bundesliga champions back within touching distance in the second half after they went 5-2 down, ending the first leg only one goal behind.

Dembele's opener in Germany, though, extended that to two. While the first 45 minutes of the second leg weren't quite so goal-filled, there was just as much attacking quality on show.

"Luis Diaz has looked the sharpest player, twisting and turning onto that right foot," Chris Sutton said on BBC Radio 5Live.

"He'll be disappointed he didn't hit the target there. He's the one who looks like making something happen for Bayern Munich."

Diaz left Liverpool last summer in a deal worth around $88 million (£65 million). He wanted to move on and try something new, with the Reds allowing him to leave a year after initial interest was withstood.
