Will Jaguars’ Travis Hunter play both sides of ball in 2026? Liam Coen shares update

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a good season this past year, and they'll be looking to work off that success. One of their key player, Travis Hunter, will be important to their success next season, as he'll be returning from an injury that sidelined him for some of the year.

Hunter played both sides of the ball last season, and there were reports earlier in the offseason that he was going to be a full-time cornerback and part-time wide receiver.

Head coach Liam Coen was recently asked about Hunter playing both sides of the ball next season, and it doesn't seem like the team plans on doing anything different with him.

“The plan has not changed at all,” Coen said. “He's going to play both sides of the football just as we drafted him to do. We have the same vision for him in terms of being able to give him those opportunities. Is it day by day as far as what he looks like in his process of rehab? Absolutely. But the plan to play him on both sides of the ball as much as possible, that has stayed the same.”

In seven games this season, Hunter caught 28 passes on 45 targets for 298 yards and one touchdown. As a cornerback, he recorded 15 tackles and three pass breakups, and allowed a 60 percent completion rate on 15 targets.

Not many people seem to be fans of Hunter playing both offense and defense, and Charles Woodson was one of the few to offer his opinion.

“I think that it's possible in terms of if you want to put him out there a play here, a play there, but not like he did in college,” Woodson told Barstool Sports' Jon Gruden. “Your body's not going to hold up. If he was to try to do that in the NFL, he'll age in dog years and it'll be over before you know it.”
