The New Orleans Saints announced their rookie class' jersey numbers on Tuesday. Jordyn Tyson keeping his college number was already reported, but now it's all official. Second round pick Christen Miller was also able to keep his collegiate number. He celebrated this with a video on social media.
Oscar Delp's college number of 4 is currently held by Zach Wilson. Something tells me Delp could grab that number if he wanted to. Maybe he's just remaining patient. Barion Brown had open room to grab 7, which he wore at Kentucky, but chose to wear 19. We'll see how long that lasts. Moral of the story: be patient when buying these rookies' jerseys.

Saints rookie class creating buzz in a way we haven't seen in decades
The Saints have had some great drafts since the turn of the century. If this latest class lives up to the hype, they'll be up there with some legendary classes. This isn't a projection. It's hard to be the 2006 draft class with legendary pieces like Reggie Bush, Roman Harper, Jahri Evans, Zach Strief and Marques Colston.
This isn't a projection that the 2026 draft class will measure up or even come close. It is an example of the amount of hype there is around the Saints' current crop of rookies. You probably would have to go back to the 2006 NFL Draft to find the last time a Saints draft class created this much hype before playing a game. There isn't a Bush level prospect in the class, but the group has sent waves of excitement through the fan base for the past two weeks.
The 2017 class was amazing, but it wasn't until the season started that we saw what they really could be. Alvin Kamara became Offensive Rookie of the Year, but he was supposed to be a third string running back behind Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson. The Saints already had two starting tackles when Ryan Ramczyk was drafted in the first round. Plus, he's an offensive tackle.
Unfortunate truth but positional value is also one of the reason for excitement around this draft. The Saints drafted 3 true pass catchers and an explosive kick returner that could be used in the passing game. Lorenzo Styles Jr. is a late round pick but he ran a 4.2 40.
One thing the class has working in their favor is the early success of Tyler Shough. Last year's rookie quarterback is the centerpiece that this year's rookies revolve around. Bolstering the class with arguably the best receiver in the draft, Jordyn Tyson, would have been enough. Quadruple dipping with pass catchers has fans excited for what could be. Other classes have been great, but this class has fans anticipating the season in a way few classes could compete with.
