The Saints announced their list of tryout players, and it includes a former Falcons kicker

This week's New Orleans Saints rookie camp isn't just about the rookies, it's also an opportunity for NFL veterans looking to keep their careers afloat.

The Saints will try out several veteran players at rookie camp this week, and former Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo is among them.

Koo spent parts of seven seasons with Atlanta, and at one point was considered one of the NFL's best place kickers. He made the Pro Bowl in 2020, his first full NFL season, after he made 37 of his 39 field goal attempts with a long of 54.

That began a four-year stretch where Koo made 128 of 142 field goal attempts — a 90.1% success rate.

But Koo's accuracy began to fall off in 2024 when he missed nine of his 34 attempts, including a dreadful 1-for-4 performance against the Saints in a 20-17 Falcons loss.

Atlanta released him one game into last season after he missed a 44-yard attempt in the closing seconds against the Buccaneers that would have sent the game into overtime.

Koo is one of two kickers the Saints will have at rookie camp, with the other being former Texas kicker Mason Shipley. Incumbent Charlie Smyth spent the bulk of the 2024 and 2025 seasons on the practice squad.

New Orleans will also try out a couple veteran quarterbacks in Kyle Trask and Easton Stick. Trask is a former second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Stick has familiarity with head coach Kellen Moore dating back to Moore's days as the Chargers offensive coordinator.
