Falcons have huge Kyle Pitts decision looming

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts reminded everyone of his talent in 2025, after a couple of so-so seasons following his breakout rookie season.

Pitts was a monster, totaling 928 yards and 5 TDs for the Falcons last season, and Atlanta placed the franchise tag on the promising tight end. But there isn't any long-term security for Pitts, and if he has another big season in 2026, the Falcons could be on the hook for a big extension.

However, with Pitts having only two good years out of five, the franchise might wait to see if he can replicate that form in 2026.

For NFL.com's Kevin Patra, he thinks the Falcons will extend Pitts, making him one of the highest-paid at his position in the NFL.

"Pitts signs an extension that keeps him among the highest-paid TEs, but below the likes of Kittle and McBride," Patra writes.

What is Pitts' worth?

Well, as the saying goes, you are only worth what someone will pay you, and I bet there will be a couple of teams who might pay Pitts a pretty penny to come to their organization.

With George Kittle and Trey McBride at $19 million APY, as Patra wrote, Pitts likely falls in behind that.

Travis Kelce and T.J. Hockenson are at $17 million and $16 million, respectively, so there is a real sense that Pitts, if he again has another good season, could land somewhere in that ballpark

The talent is clear to see, but the Falcons might just want to see a little more before they commit long-term to Kyle.

And I agree with Patra, I don't think Atlanta lets Pitts get to free agency next offseason.
