Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel allegedly enjoyed a 1 on 1 boat rental in 2021

The Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini story seemed to be fading as the New England Patriots got ready for the new NFL season, but fresh details from their past have pulled both back into the unwanted national spotlight once again.

The NFL scandal has haunted both Vrabel and Russini's careers and reputations over the past month after photos surfaced showing them seated closely together at an adults-only resort in Arizona earlier this year. New details show their connection may have gone back further than first thought, after Russini made a Vrabel decision after recent developments.

Additional images later surfaced from Vrabel’s time with the Tennessee Titans, including a 2020 photo from a New York City bar that appeared to show them kissing. Russini's husband has been urged to make a ruthless decision after his reaction emerged.

TMZ Sports reports that Vrabel and Russini also rented a private boat together in Putnam County, Tennessee, in June 2021. The outlet says they were the only two on board for a two-to three-hour rental.

The report says both signed company waivers before leaving for the lake. A source told the publication that there was no public adoration before they set sail, but the pair appeared reluctant to have photos taken of their trip.

The timing of the trip has sparked onlinereactions to old tweets, since Russini mentioned her newborn son in social media posts from the same period in 2021. Russini also named her son Michael.

Russini has remained mostly silent publicly since resigning from The Athletic before the completion of an investigation tied to the scandal. She later posted a resignation statement, insisting she would not allow the controversy to define her career.

"I do so not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career," she wrote.

Just before the lake discovery, reports suggested that Russini's silence on the matter may not last much longer. Sources claimed to the Daily Mail that the ex-Athletic NFL inside-scoopstress is contemplating a major sit-down interview to detail her side of their story.
