FOX is pulling out all of the stops to ensure the network captures the attention of as many American viewers as possible during the 2026 World Cup. Its next trick? Bringing in New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston as a special correspondent for the network's studio team.

So far, FOX has opted for ex-soccer professionals with extensive TV experience for their World Cup coverage, including Thierry Henry, Clarence Seedorf, Peter Schmeichel, and others. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Javier Hernandez have less experience but are major names in the sport.

Winston is known as a jokester. He featured on FOX last year during the postseason and is poised to start a career in broadcasting when he retires, though he's currently the New York backup.

"Putting the W in World Cup baby!" he wrote on X, confirming the move. "Can’t wait to be back with the Fox Sports team and be part of the biggest global sporting event in the World!"

His "W" reference refers to Winston's personal ritual of forming his hand into a W and eating it before the game to hype up his teammates.

In the announcement video, Winston facetimed some famous NFL faces, including his Giants teammates Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo, to confirm his new job.

"The world's greatest sporting event calls for the world's greatest correspondent! Fox Sports announces Jameis Winston will contribute to the network's coverage throughout the summer, spotlighting all the World Cup fun, fans, and more," Fox Sports PR said in a statement.

Winston was the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of Florida State University. The one-time 5,000-yard passer has since had stints with the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, and the Giants.

Who else does FOX have working the World Cup? Here is the entire in-booth broadcast team.
