'Real Madrid leading the way'to complete'complicated'deal to sign£25m/year LFC star

Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool after nine years of service and there is no shortage of interest in the Egyptian.

After 257 goals and 122 assists in Liverpool Red, the 33-year-old is set to leave the club after a massively frustrating season.

In December, Salah gave a controversial interview after the 3-3 draw with Leeds, informing journalists in the mixed press zone that he felt as though he was being forced out of the club.

He said: “I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.

“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship.”

Salah scored 34 goals and assisted 23 last season in all competitions, dragging Liverpool to a 20th league title and his second.

This season, Salah has made just 25 Premier League starts, scoring just seven goals in league football.

It’s not the way he would like to leave, but he can hold his head high for the role he played in restoring Liverpool to their rightful place as the most successful English club in history.

Mohamed Salah enters major crossroads in his illustrious career

According to a report from Egyptian news outlet Mwatan News, there is a long list of clubs vying for the chance to sign Salah when he leaves Liverpool this summer.

Salah’s £25m per year contract doesn’t expire until June 2027, but has been given special permission to leave the club for free, likely as a respectful nod to his unparalleled attacking performance at Liverpool in the modern era.

The report states: “Salah enters this stage at a crucial crossroads, as his decision is linked to several factors, most notably continuing to compete in Europe at the highest level, or moving towards a more leading role with a greater financial return in other destinations.”

Real Madrid leading the way for Salah

On Real Madrid’s interest, the report adds: “Several potential destinations are emerging, with Real Madrid leading the way. However, completing the deal seems complicated given the club’s policy and the abundance of stars in their attacking line.

“Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia also appears as a strong option due to their financial resources and the fact that they would offer him a leading role within the team, despite their absence from European competitions.”

Interest from Italy: AS Roma interested in Salah reunion

Mwatan News finished their report by saying: “Clubs such as Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan have also been mentioned, but they seem less realistic options at the moment, in addition to Inter Miami emerging as a different destination that gives the player a global marketing dimension, especially given the presence of big stars in the American league.”

Salah will be fit in time to receive a more than deserved send-off at Anfield on the final day of the 2026 Premier League season

When Salah picked up an untimely injury against Crystal Palace, there were immediate concerns that he would not be fit to play another game for Liverpool before he leaves this summer.

These fears have been dispelled, however, with Liverpool’s official website reporting last week that Salah’s injury is only minor and he will make a full return to fitness.
