Everything from the draft points to them being a majority three wide receiver team rather than leaning more on eleven personnel. If they had drafted Oscar Delp at 74 it might have been a very different conversation and they could still make a decision to add a tight end of note.
With the twenty fourth pick they select KC Concepcion, while Makai Lemon slid they would have had to have given up multiple resources to trade up and select him.
While people looked at free agency names, I never saw these type of players wanting to come to the Cleveland Browns with where they are at with quarterback. This is why the trade market made sense to explore with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Brian Thomas Jr. as two potential trade options. Rather than doing this they double dipped with Denzel Boston, who should be the team's X.
With the combined cost of this young tandem projected to be $3,248,537 in 2027 they can certainly keep paying Jeudy if he returns close to his performance in 2024 or even look at adding another veteran. It is great to have legitimate talent from the draft rather than fans trying to convince themselves that a third round wide receiver is a potential weapon when the drop off after the first two rounds has been significant for many years.
If everyone remains healthy then Tillman is likely to be traded by week one as $3.674m for wide receiver depth is excessive. Being wide receiver depth heading into your contract year isn't a way to get a pay day. They likely won't rush to a trade as he offers injury protection for the three players ahead of him until week one. I don't think you get much for him in a deal with his contract price, a sixth would be a good return. It would be a fifth if he was on his rookie deal without the Proven Performance Escalator.
Bond has upside and talent and hopefully with a full offseason he can continue his development. If he takes a mayor step forward there is a world where he pushes Jeudy off the roster next year and they are looking at a cheaper veteran depth option to work alongside these three young talents.
Corley appeared to be the gadget player that Stefanski had been chasing for many years. His challenge could be that those touches might go to Concepcion. So developing his game will be something to keep an eye on during training camp and the preseason. This could potentially open the door to one of the UDFA targets, Aaron Anderson is the one that intrigues me the most. Corley has one year left with the Browns before becoming a restricted free agent, whereas Anderson has three. The size might be a concern but I am intrigued with the upside. Especially if this player is likely inactive on game day out the six.
The other wildcard is around the return game. It could be they look to Wallace or Larvadain as a returner to finish off the position room. The other option is that Concepcion takes over punt returns and then Corley looks after kick off returns with Dylan Sampson. This then opens the final spot on the roster for someone like Anderson or even a fullback.
They have options and that means there is plenty for these depth players to play for in camp.
