Wesley Fofana makes decision on Chelsea future amid Barcelona links

There has been speculation about Wesley Fofana potentially leaving Chelsea for Barcelona in the summer.

On Wednesday, it was claimed that Fofana has been offered to Barcelona in a cut-price deal.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will bite or not or how true the rumour actually is, but Fofana’s decision on his future already appears to have been made.

Wesley Fofana plans to stay at Chelsea

For any Chelsea fans who are hoping that Fofana remains at Stamford Bridge this summer, there is some good news.

Journalist Kieran Gill has revealed on X that the defender has no intention of leaving Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.

Since Liam Rosenior was sacked, Fofana has not started a match for Chelsea. Calum McFarlane left the 25-year-old on the bench for the Blues’ games against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Fofana was an unused substitute in the two fixtures but could start in Saturday’s clash with Liverpool.

Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah were far from convincing in Monday’s 3-1 loss to Forest, so McFarlane could be tempted to make a change.

In March, it was reported that Fofana was seeking an exit, but the Frenchman now looks set to remain in west London.

Chelsea should put Wesley Fofana up for sale

While Fofana may want to stay at Chelsea, he could not blame the club if they decide to sell him this summer.

Simply put, his transfer from Leicester City has not worked out. Chelsea paid ÂŁ70m for his signature, but he has barely played because of injury.

This season, Fofana’s fitness has been better, but the Frenchman’s defending has not been brilliant. They are likely to make a heavy loss, but at this point, Chelsea should consider putting Fofana up for sale.

From Fofana’s perspective, a fresh start may be something that the France international actually needs. All options should be left on the table during the summer transfer window.
