Liverpool have made a huge U-turn on increasing ticket prices after fans protested the change at Anfield.

Supporters protested in the stands by holding up yellow cards urging FSG not to destroy 'Anfield's soul' during the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace after plans to increase ticket prices were made. A banner was also raised in the Kop of owner John W. Henry and the words: "Listen to fans, don't kill the Kop."

The Red had announced that ticket prices would rise in line with the consumer price index for inflation for the next three seasons. However, the club has now cut the size of their planned ticket hike for the next couple of years.

Liverpool released a statement saying that following discussions with the club's supporters board, the club will increase general admission ticket prices by three per cent for the 2026/27 season, followed by a price freeze in 27/28.

The club and the supporters board will continue discussions on a plan for future seasons, including commercial ideas to avoid further ticket price increases and issues around affordability.

A joint statement from fan representative groups, external said: "We welcome the decision that Liverpool FC will no longer proceed with its previously announced three-year ticket pricing model.

"Following protests and conversations with the supporters board over the past few days, the club has pledged a new proposal that will allow us to examine thoroughly long-term solutions surrounding fan affordability and access.

"We understand that disappointment at next season's increase in ticket prices will remain for some, but we want to assure fans we will continue talks with the club and do our best to find other ways in the future."

However, the club warned that without progress on alternative solutions, a future "inflationary increase" may still be required.
