Liverpool’s 2025-26 campaign is winding down, but the Reds’ production line of young talent shows no signs of slowing. Arne Slot’s senior side have spent the closing weeks of the season balancing Premier League commitments with one eye on summer recruitment, and the club’s Academy continues to push fresh names into international reckoning.
The pathway from Kirkby to international duty has rarely looked busier, with Liverpool consistently placing youngsters in England age-group squads across the board this season.
That trend has continued once again, with two of the club’s brightest U15 prospects earning their latest call-ups for the Young Lions’ final camp of the campaign.
The FA has officially confirmed a 24-man England Men’s Under-15s squad for a four-fixture trip to Croatia later this month, and Liverpool midfielder Luca Eden and forward Kobi Akerele are both included in head coach Matt Thorpe’s group.
Eden, a creative central midfielder, has been a regular in England youth setups throughout the season and was part of the U15s squad for December’s fixtures against Iceland, Spain and Italy.
The Liverpool midfielder has built a reputation at Academy level for his composure in possession and ability to dictate tempo from deeper areas, traits that have made him one of the standout names in his age group.
Akerele, meanwhile, joins him in attack as one of just four forwards selected. The Liverpool striker has also featured consistently for England’s youth ranks this term and was named alongside Eden in the December camp.
Thorpe’s Young Lions face a demanding schedule as they wrap up the 2025-26 season, with four matches packed into six days against international opposition:
Tuesday 19 May – vs Japan
Wednesday 20 May – vs Brazil
Friday 22 May – vs Croatia (tournament hosts)
Sunday 24 May – vs Korea Republic, Switzerland, USA or Portugal (final-placing fixture, opponent confirmed after group results)
It’s a serious test against high-quality global opposition, and a chance for both Eden and Akerele to add further international minutes to their development before the summer break.
