Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has been advised on why he would excel in Italy should he choose to depart Anfield this summer.

Jones' future with the Reds has been the subject of ongoing speculation since the January transfer window, and the rumors continue to gather pace as the summer window approaches its conclusion. The start of the year saw reports emerge that Inter Milan were purportedly interested in securing Jones on loan until the end of the season, with suggestions that the arrangement could have been made permanent.

Jones is tied to Liverpool until 2027, which means he will shortly be entering the final year of his deal at Anfield. As a result, speculation persists that Jones could make his exit this summer, with Italy continuing to be mentioned as a potential destination.

Former Inter striker Antonio Cassano has explained why he believes Jones would prosper if he were to swap Liverpool for the Serie A heavyweights.

Cassano also indicated he would expect Jones to be "better" than former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, who departed Old Trafford for Napoli almost two years ago. McTominay has flourished since making the switch.

"Curtis Jones for Inter? He would be an excellent signing, he's a pacey midfielder, he's a Champions League-oriented player," Cassano is quoted as saying on Viva El Futbol.

"He'd be better than McTominay. He has great quality and at Liverpool he won a lot playing, unlike [Cristian] Zaccardo and [Andrea] Barzagli who are World Champions but never played."

What the future holds for Jones at Liverpool remains unclear, with no suggestion of a contract renewal for the academy product. Liverpool is already preparing itself for the exit of at least two first-team stalwarts this summer, with Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson both set to depart when the season concludes.

Speculation over Alisson Becker's future at the club also continues to persist, with Juventus reportedly monitoring the Brazilian closely.

Jones has been a key figure for Liverpool under Arne Slot throughout the past two seasons, accumulating 46 appearances this campaign, yet he is still awaiting his first Premier League goal. Both of the midfielder's strikes for the Reds this season came in FA Cup victories over Brighton and Wolves earlier in the campaign.
