NFL Coaches Ranked is a look at the NFL Head Coaches manning the sidelines this season. We will see great and not-so-great coaches leading the way. Who are the best coaches? Let’s take a look.
Ranking NFL Head Coaches, Best to Worst
(Career Record) (Record with current team)
Top Ten
Andy Reid,Kansas City Chiefs (279-157-1) (149-64) Reid has his spot waiting in the Hall of Fame. Two stints as a coach in Philadelphia and Kansas City, 3 Super Bowl titles. Best coach in the game.
Sean McVay,Los Angeles Rams (92-57) – McVay can coach; it’s as simple as that. He knows how to not only design offensive schemes, but he also gets the most out of his players.
Sean Payton,Denver Broncos (184-108) (32-19) Payton proved his worth as a coach after taking over the Broncos and returning the team to prominence in just three seasons. Payton has a Hall of Fame pedigree and knows the game well.
Dan Campbell,Detroit Lions (53-43-1) (48-36-1) Campbell took over the Lions when they were… bad. He has rejuvenated Detroit and has surefire leadership abilities.
Ben Johnson,Chicago Bears (11-6) (11-6) Johnson wowed the NFL as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions before doing the same in his first season leading the Bears to the playoffs.
Jim Harbaugh,Los Angeles Chargers (66-31-1) (22-12) – Harbaugh has excelled first with the 49ers and now with the Chargers. Including his successful run as Head Coach at the University of Michigan, he has a proven record as a leader.
John Harbaugh,New York Giants (180-113) (0-0). Harbaugh is headed for the Hall of Fame someday. Can he work the same magic for the Giants that he had for the Ravens?
Nick Sirianni,Philadelphia Eagles (59-26). Sirianni has had some tremendous teams, and the pressure is great to win. Can he keep the Eagles at the top of the NFC East? If not, he may be gone at the end of the season.
Mike McCarthy,Pittsburgh Steelers (174-112-2) (0-0) McCarthy has the pedigree with successes in Green Bay and Dallas. Does he have what it takes to lead Pittsburgh to playoff success?
Matt LaFleur,Green Bay Packers (76-40-1) (76-40-1) LaFleur continues to lead Green Bay to successful seasons. Can he bring playoff success to the Packers, or has he worn out his welcome in Green Bay?
Josh Pate asked #Texas HC, Steve Sarkisian an interesting question

NFL Coaches Ranked: The Second Ten
Mike Vrabel,New England Patriots (68-48) (14-3). Vrabel has had his ups and downs, with last season his best coaching job for the Pats. Off-the-field drama may impact his success this season.
Kyle Shanahan,San Francisco 49ers (82-67). Shanahan is a solid coach, but should he have done more with the talent the 49ers have had?
DeMeco Ryans,Houston Texans (32-19) (32-19) Ryans proved he could coach defense. Last season, he proved he could right the ship in Houston after a disappointing start.
Mike Macdonald,Seattle Seahawks (24-10) (24-10). Macdonald has a Super Bowl win, and it looks like he will keep climbing the coaching ranks of the league’s best coaches.
Kevin O’Connell,Minnesota Vikings (43-25) (43-25) – O’Connell has had mixed success, with great results early in his tenure in Minnesota. His job might be on the line this season if Minnesota doesn’t make the playoffs for a second straight season.
Zac Taylor,Cincinnati Bengals (52-63) 52-63) Taylor is a product of the Sean McVay tree and has demonstrated he can get the most out of Joe Burrow. Will Taylor return the Bengals to playoff success this season? He might need to get this team to the playoffs to save his job.
Dan Quinn,Washington Commanders (60-59) (17-17) Quinn is a great defensive coordinator, but the jury is out on his ability as head coach. He needs a productive season to stave off dismissal at the season’s end.
Liam Coen,Jacksonville Jaguars (13-4) (13-4) Coen wowed the NFL by leading the Jags to a division title last year. Can he do it again?
Shane Steichen,Indianapolis Colts (25-26) (25-26) Steichen had the Colts the talk of the NFL last year before injuries hit and Indianapolis struggled. His value as a coach will now be tested. Can Steichen lead Indy to a playoff berth?
Todd Bowles,Tampa Bay Buccaneers (61-74) (35-33). Bowles had had success with the Bucs, but unless he leads Tampa to a playoff berth, he is likely gone as coach.

Kellen Moore,New Orleans Saints (6-11) (6-11) Moore didn’t have much to work with last season. Might be the same this year. He has his work cut out for sure.
Robert Saleh,Tennessee Titans (20-36) (0-0) Saleh has struggled as a head coach, but excelled as a defensive coordinator. Can he alter the course from his previous head coaching stints?
Brian Schottenheimer,Dallas Cowboys (7-9-1) (7-9-1). Schottenheimer missed out on getting the Cowboys to the playoffs in his first season. He may need to return Dallas to the postseason to keep his job.
Kevin Stefanski,Atlanta Falcons (45-56) (0-0) – Stefanski showed early promise in his career with Cleveland, but tailed off. Now to see if he can turn the Falcons around.
