Talks had been ongoing over a new deal for Shaw since early 2026, but an agreement has not been reached.

The 29-year-old is now set to depart on a free transfer after five years at City.

Chelsea are willing to match her terms and sign the forward upon her City exit.

The Blues currently sit second in the top-flight, six points behind champions City.

Meanwhile, approaches have also been made by other WSL sides as well as European and National Women's Soccer League clubs.

Shaw's City career

Since joining City from Bordeaux in 2021, Shaw has scored 110 goals in 133 appearances to become their all-time top scorer.

Her tally of 19 goals in 21 league outings this season leads the way in the WSL.

As a result, the Jamaican striker is on course to win a third consecutive golden boot this term.

She is currently seven goals clear of her nearest challenger, Aston Villa striker Kirsty Hanson.

Shaw and her City team-mates were confirmed as WSL champions without playing on Wednesday.

It followed Arsenal's 1-1 draw away at Brighton, which leaves the Gunners 10 points adrift with three matches to play.

City conclude their league campaign away to West Ham United on Saturday, May 16.

That could prove to be Shaw's final appearance for the club if they fail to reach the FA Women's Cup final.

Andree Jeglertz's side take on Chelsea in the last four on Sunday afternoon.

The club's title triumph this year is the second WSL victory in their history.

It adds to the Women's League Cup which Shaw won with City back in 2022.
