AC Milan may have moved into the driving seat to secure Robert Lewandowski, but that may only be when looking at Serie A clubs.
Lewandowski’s future is an interesting one. Even at 37-years-old, the Polish striker has proven that he has enough left in the tank to still be a fantastic aid to a team and with Milan in desperate need of a goalscorer, he could bridge the gap.
Of course, he is not the long-term goalscorer that the Rossoneri dream of. However, he would be able to help the club navigate the next year, potentially more. Then, Francesco Camarda may be ready to finally take the reins.
Alternatively, they could be left to someone else. In short, the Barcelona man would be a facilitator whilst also being a fantastic asset in the short-term future.
Milan secure ‘mini-pole position’
However, if that is going to be the future, the Diavolo need to sort out his arrival. As Calciomercato.com reports, that will not be so simple, though.
It seems a renewal with Barcelona is not impossible and his agent Pini Zahavi – arriving back in Barcelona from his trip to Italy – stated that talks with the Catalan club would continue. Indeed, nothing has been ruled out yet.
The striker also must make a decision, but it will not arrive until after the title-deciding El Clasico. Should he opt to leave Spain, Italy could be his preference and with Juventus pulling away, Milan have secured a ‘mini-pole position’.
Interest from Saudi Arabia and America remains, but if he has ambitions to stay in Europe, they could be heard in Lombardy.
